Kickstarter Game Developer Haiku Collection

September 2nd - via: cliqist.com
It’s a bit of a tradition that whenever I interview someone for Cliqist I ask them to put together a brief haiku to describe them, their company, or their game. Since we’re celebrating the one year anniversary of Cliqist this week I figure it would be as good a time as any to look back at some of them. All the haiku’s were written by the person being interviewed, and are listed in the order in which they appeared on the site. Some are great, some not so much, but each is interesting in its own right. (Read More)

Snow-Bound Shootout. Kôna VS The Long Dark

August 27th - via: cliqist.com
Kôna, developed by Parabole from Quebec, launched on Kickstarter recently and there’s a lot of people excited about it. Upon reading through the Kickstarter page and getting a feel for what this game is about, something about it seemed very familiar. I just couldn’t put my finger on it at first, but Kôna reminded me of something. The environment completely open for exploration, puzzle solving, surviving in the Canadian wild – how does this sound familiar? Then it hit me, Kôna is eerily similar The Long Dark. (Read More)

Kickstarter Week End. What Launched Aug 3 – 9?

August 11th - via: cliqist.com
Every week (starting now at least) we take a brief look at all of the Kickstarter campaigns that launched in the previous week. This isn’t to say that all of these projects are worth your hard earned cash, but with any luck having all of them in one place will make it easier to educate yourself on the projects you’d like to back, and which ones to run from. You’ll find two types of campaigns listed, “featured” and “the rest“. Featured campaigns are those that contain a significant amount of game information, are from known developers, or are significant in some other way. The rest of the games are usually smaller campaigns that are lacking in information, are from unknowns, have unanswered questions, or have not yet stood out for one reason or another. (Read More)

Wilderness Survival Has A Purpose In Kôna

August 8th - via: cliqist.com
It’s not uncommon to see a game fail on Kickstarter and get rebooted. These second campaigns are usually an effort to get the game made, they usually have lower funding goals, and they’re usually the exact same campaign that failed in the past, but Parabole has a different idea. Their last campaign, Gridlock Tactics, didn’t do as well as they’d hoped, raising less than a quarter of the goal, but instead of just posting the same idea again Parabole has moved on to fresh material, and it looks much more original and immersive. (Read More)
