Divinity: Original Sin studio says it wouldn't "be correct" to crowdfund its next game

September 8th - via: pcgamer.com
Divinity: Original Sin is a really good game, thanks in no small part to the 19,541 people who threw nearly a million bucks at it on Kickstarter. July 9th - via: thebitpulse.com
Larian Studios took the usual crowdfunding route — Kickstarter to Steam Early Access to final release — with Divinity: Original Sin and, though it got lucky with a Steam sale and maybe some other factors like press coverage, its sales numbers help us understand what to expect from Kickstarter games, especially since not a lot of them have came out yet. (Read More)

Divinity: Original Sin – Early Access Review

June 16th - via: cliqist.com
Not everyone is going to have time to enjoy Divinity:Original Sin. February 1st - via: hardcoregamer.com
I had never really followed the Divinity series or was even aware of Larian Studios, and yet when I heard about their Kickstarter campaign, I couldn’t help but be intrigued. There were promises of an epic RPG with cooperative multiplayer, significant choices and consequences, and an emphasis on exploration and experimentation through a comprehensive crafting system and unique character development. It was everything I could hope for in an RPG and more, and these lofty promises made on Kickstarter have started to manifest themselves into an actual playable experience. (Read More)

The Divinity: Original Sin Kickstarter Ends Soon

April 23rd - via: examiner.com
Larian Studios' Divinity: Original Sin has entered the last 72 hours of its Kickstarter campaign. Divinity Composer Supports Kickstarter With Twitch.tv Concert

April 22nd - via: escapistmagazine.com
If you missed Kirill Pokrovsky's concert in support of the Divinity: Original Sin Kickstarter, you can now catch it on YouTube, complete with new HD footage. Kirill Pokrovsky doesn't have the catalog of a guy like, say, Jeremy Soule, but his work on the Divinity games - he's done the music for all of them - is nothing short of outstanding. And while Soule is, last I heard, still kicking around the idea of a videogame mega-concert in New York City, Pokrovsky went ahead and held one of his own, a one-man show (with a spot or two of horsing around by Larian boss Swen Vincke) on Twitch TV. (Read More)

Last weekend took on a life of its own, which is the sort of thing weekends should probably do more often, and I was stranded away from my trusty keyboard and therefore unable to type words about games that might exist at some point in the future. This was a sad thing. Fortunately, missing a week means that there are more winners than ever before and the bumper crop contains two games that I’ve played and enjoyed, at least three that I look forward to playing when they are released and a project that makes me realise how much I want to play with an Oculus Rift. (Read More)

D20: The best-looking RPGs on Kickstarter right now

April 8th - via: games.on.net
April is turning out to be quite the slow month for retail releases, RPG and otherwise. It’s not a total dead zone as it has often been in the past, with a few AAA titles being released during the month as well as a few smaller games. The lack of boxed copies isn’t really going to effect how much of an impact gaming has on my wallet, however, as once again a number of interesting projects have made their way to Kickstarter, all but demanding that I give them all of my available cash in anticipation of a finished product somewhere down the line when I will inevitably not have enough time to fully enjoy them. (Read More)

Divinity: Original Sin could be the most polished project ever on Kickstarter

April 3rd - via: eurogamer.net
Divinity: Original Sin was announced nine months ago but about a week ago it popped up on Kickstarter seeking $400,000. The project hadn't hit dire straits - in fact, it's more or less finished (watch the video below). Developer Larian took to Kickstarter because it wanted to make Divinity even better, and it already looks pretty good. But rather than delay the 2013 release date to achieve that, Larian decided to try and raise money to boost its development capabilities. (Read More)

Larian Studios launches Divinity: Original Sin Kickstarter campaign

March 29th - via: polygon.com
Belgian game developer Larian Studios — best known for making hardcore role-playing games like Divine Divinity and Divinity 2: The Dragon Knight Saga — launched a Kickstarter campaign this week for Divinity: Original Sin, the next RPG in the Divinity series. Unlike previous Divinity Games, Larian Studios is self-publishing Original Sin and is asking for $400,000 to put together a secondary design team of extra programmers, artists, animators and testers to make the game larger than what the studio currently has. (Read More)

Divinity: Original Sin heads to Kickstarter for extra development funds

March 28th - via: pcgamer.com
Larian’s Divinity: Original Sin, first seen in May last year, is founder Sven Vincke’s homage to his favorite game—Ultima 7—and “an RPG that would give people the same feeling I had when I played that game.” It shows it, too, from its top-down angles and turn-based battles much akin to its predecessor Divine Divinity. It’s set to release in the coming months, but a last-moment Kickstarter campaign seeks an extra $400,000 from backers to expand Larian’s development team. (Read More)

Hands On: Divinity – Original Sin

March 28th - via: rockpapershotgun.com
Playing a game with one of its creators can be distracting and even disconcerting. Often, they don’t know your level of experience with the genre or their previous work, and you don’t know how stable the code might be if you wander too far from the well-trodden path. Reactions are being measured, on both sides, and there’s often an obligation, spoken or otherwise, to hover slightly above the mouse and keyboard, like a cagey patron in an art gallery skimming politely from exhibit to exhibit. (Read More)

March 27th - via: co-optimus.com
Larian Studios are known for crafting thoughtful RPG’s. They have created wonderful games in the Divinity series, and the upcoming Divinity: Dragon Commander appears to push the envelope in strategy gaming. Returning to their roots, Larian has taken a traditional RPG and centered it around the meaningful interactions of players as the cornerstone. This game, which we have been following closely for some time, is Divinity: Original Sin. As a cooperative experience, we have taken a great interest in this title due to the fact that the greatest gaming immersion will come out of playing with another person. (Read More)
