Astrobase Command: Forge Your Future

November 30th - via:
The utopian future was one of the most prevalent sci-fi concepts from the 1950s all the way until around the late 70s and early 80s. Notice I said “sci-fi,” not “future.” As we all know, apocalypse has pretty much been on most people’s minds since the atomic bombs dropped. However, science fiction gave us an ideal to strive for, which was ultimately replaced by something far less ideal: the dystopia. (Read More)

On Kickstarter: Triple A developers turning Indie to build an innovative game called Astrobase Command.

November 29th - via:
A couple of AAA-developers teaming up to make games that actually innovate. Their first project: a game to make your sci-fi fantasy come true. According to them pioneering is much easier in the indie space – ‘In fact, I would say we’re at a point in the games industry where it’s almost impossible to innovate in the AAA space, for a lot of reasons’. What innovation do these Triple A guys bring to the table? (Read More)

November 29th - via:
If you enjoy long, in-depth interviews, you're going to enjoy this week's show. The longest interview we have ever had over at Game Academy Radio by far, my guest this week was Dave Williams of Jellyfish Games as we discuss his team's new ambitious title Astrobase Command. Tasking players with designing their own space station and race from scratch, Astrobase Command forces players to survive while managing a space station how they see fit. Using an interesting concept called 'AI Relationships,' Astrobase Command promises a reaction to every action players take. It's being crowdfunded over at Kickstarter and can also be found on Steam Greenlight. (Read More)

Seeking Spacebucks: Astrobase Command Kickstarter

November 20th - via:
If ever proof were needed that Kickstarter is capable of warping the mind, I almost opened this post about Astrobase Command by claiming that the game probably already had more features than Spacebase DF-9. The two do look similar but in fairness to Doublefine’s take on space station management, its current Steam Early Access version may be lean but it is possible for the public to play it. Astrobase Command, which I’ve enthused about before, is currently seeking 145,000 Canadian Dollars via Kickstarter and although there’s nothing to play just yet, it’s an appealing project. It’s part single player Space Station 13 and part sci-fi Dwarf Fortress. (Read More)

November 20th - via:
The new Kickstarter project called Astrobase Command is out to prove that whatever your sci-fi game fantasy is, you can build it on your computer. The power is almost literally in your hands all the way. First off, however, the crew making the game needs the money to make it happen. This crew in particular has built games before, and they know what they’re doing. (Read More)
