Kickstarter: 'Scheherazade' starring Brian Blessed & Rory Bremner

I have a love for orchestral and classical music (albeit mostly score soundtracks) and I also have a love for the 1001 Nights or Arabian Nights stories and so to me, backing this Kickstarter project was a no-brainer! (Read More)

Grandma Dingley on Kickstarter

March 7th - via: melaniespanswick.com
Last year I reviewed a really interesting recording designed as an educational tool for children, encouraging them to listen to classical music. As I’m sure you know by now, if you regularly read my blog, I’m always keen to highlight a project such as this because, in my opinion, children have relatively few opportunities to absorb classical music. (Read More)

Brian Blessed Comes to Kickstarter With Sheherazade

March 7th - via: geeksyndicate.co.uk
know it was through listening to the Flash Gordon soundtrack and a lot of stuff by John Williams as a young boy that gave me my a taste for orchestral music and made me go off hunting for more soundtracks. Soon after that I stumbled into the world of classical music and didn’t look back. The idea of a project to try and gets kids listening to classic musical is not only cool in it’s own right but added to that is, as part of the project, the team are trying to produce a graphic novel as well. (Read More)

BRIAN BLESSED on Kickstarter!

March 7th - via: gameskinny.com
Brian Blessed, king-sized star of such films as Flash Gordon, Star Wars: Episode 1 and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, is part of a Kickstarter campaign to develop some subversive children's stories - set to classical music - into comic books and multimedia productions, as a way of introducing kids to this awesome soundworld. (Read More)

Brian Blessed Yells about Buttocks, Because Classical Music

March 7th - via: toplessrobot.com
A music teacher in England wants to get kids interested in classical music, and has figured out that the best way to do that is have Brian Blessed and comedian Rory Bremner enact an audio play with a related tune in the background, in this case "Scheherazade" by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. Then he wants to turn it into a comic book, which presumably defeats the purpose of listening to the music, but anyway...Brian Blessed yelling about baboons and buttocks! (Read More)

Brian Blessed on Kickstarter: Sheherazade!

March 7th - via: mobys.ws
This one is just too good to not write something about. It is a project aimed at getting children interested in classical music, and it stars Brian Blessed, the Hawkman Prince Vultan in Flash Gordon (1980). They are looking to make a graphic novel to accompany the audio program they already have on CD, so kids can follow along and to help spark their imagination. The whole thing is set to the classical music composition Scheherazade by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. (Read More)
