When the Internet got wind of a Kobe Beef jerky, thousands of carnivores heaved cash at a L.A. startup's Kickstarter. The only issue: neither the company nor the product was real. Unfortunately, stories like this aren't uncommon in the pages of Kickstarter's short history. Here are the six worst violators of our crowdfunding trust. (Read More)

Update: Ouya Game Meets Kickstarter Goal, Controversy Remains

September 11th - via: escapistmagazine.com
Gridiron Thunder is a pro football game and is set to release on Sept. 15, according to the project's Kickstarter page. With an initial goal of $75,000, the game raised $171,000 in a month. Most surprising is that the game had only 183 backers, meaning the average amount donated per person was $934.48. Some of the funders donated $10,000. For comparison, of 84 projects over the past three months, the average donation per person was $50.59, "making Gridiron Thunder a statistical anomaly," according to Joystiq. On the last day of the campaign, the game received $45,522 from 12 backers, according to Kicktraq. (Read More)

Kickstarter For Ouya Game 'Elementary, My Dear Holmes' Suspended, Developer Promises The Game Will Go On

September 9th - via: androidpolice.com
Ouya announced in July that it would match funds for Ouya titles that were funded through Kickstarter. That's a pretty good deal, so a number of game developers took a swing at it. There were reports as the first two campaigns neared their goals that something was amiss. There were a number of very large donations, and some felt that screamed "scam." One project has been suspended, and the details are starting to come out. (Read More)

Kickstarter Games Accused Of Scamming The System

August 28th - via: kotaku.com.au
Company offers to double the money a game makes on Kickstarter in exchange for exclusivity. What could possibly go wrong?
