Blackroom is expected to release in Winter 2018 on PC and Mac and the Kickstarter campaign is seeking $700,000. The developers describe it as “a visceral, varied and violent shooter that harkens back to classic FPS play with a mixture of exploration, speed, and intense, weaponized combat.”
The finished game will have a single player campaign and dedicated multiplayer modes, including co-op, 1-on-1 deathmatch, and an arena-based free-for-all across six multiplayer maps. The creators are promising support for community made maps and mods. You can learn more about the crowdfunding campaign by visiting Blackroom’s Kickstarter page.
The new project is developed by Night Work Games, a subsidiary Romero Games that is based in Galway, Ireland.
Blackroom reuinites Doom creators Romero and Cormack. To be clear, Adrian Carmack is not related to Doom co-creator and (also) id Software co-founder John D. Carmack. He originally started his career as an artist and left the company in 2005. The new project was teased last week via a trailer. What do you think of Blackroom? Let us know in the comments below.
