Purrfectly Ever After Demo Review.

  • Pastel is a street-wise cat that runs a group of animals trying hard to survive within their city. However, she runs into trouble when her best friend, Bucky, is caught by the police.
  • Within a night of meeting several different strangers, she comes to realize that her luck has run out, so she prays to the heavens for one wish.
  • At the end, she must push forward with her new life while making the decision of which of these humans might help her understand her new circumstances better.

The first thing that is eye-catching about the game is the art and it is really enjoyable seeing all the character being very distinctive and unique. It is really lovely that all the characters seem a bit different from each other, but at the same time the backgrounds are also very well done and really show off the futuristic parts of the city, while also showing the differences with the “shadier” parts of the city. Another part of the game that is really good is the voice acting done for the main characters. It really brings out their personalities and all of the voice actors do a good job at portraying the certain character types for the 5 main guys. Though, the only problem that I really has was being able to hear Cassian’s soft voice over the music, as well as not being able to do anything about. Regardless, everything else about this game is really great.

The story begins with Pastel and her gang learning that her best friend, a dog named Bucky has been taken to the police station due to their latest food heist. From there, the night just seems to goes down hill for the feline protagonist from nearly being roadkill to nearly drowsing in a hot spring to being caught by the police. However, throughout the night, she is helped by several attractive men, but she comes to sad realization that her current lifestyle is only putting herself and the members of her gang in danger. So, she decides to break up the gang and she make a desperate plea to the gods to grant her wish. In the end, her new “skin” has placed her in a rather odd situation and she decides to ask one of the men from this rather strange night to help her understand her new circumstances.

As the main character, Pastel is really enjoyable to play as and her inner dialogue is always sassy and riles a laugh from the player. Pastel is someone who is very independent and feisty, as well as someone who cares about those in bad situations and supports them while becoming a natural leader and a sort of mentor – she really fits the definition of “big sister”. However, she does seem to have a stubbornness when it comes to things being too out of her control, as shown in the demo. Which brings in the question of how she is going to handle being human and learning their ways, along with the problems that will arise from being close to the guy she has picked. All this potential really makes the game seem more main character-centric rather than just whatever the problems the main guy is having, though I don’t doubt there won’t be those either. Needless to say, Pastel is a really enjoyable main character and one of the definite high points of the game.

Returning to the guys of the game, each of them is definitely unique and seems to have their own sets of mysteries attached to them, as noted from Pastel’s brief observations of them. All though not much was seen of from them, their brief interactions with Pastel really speak to what types of personalities they might have, as well as little hints as to what their main problems will be be, but there is still a lot of mystery left to discovery about them in the full game when it is released.

Overall, this is a really great start to a game and I recommend it! Please check out, weeev ‘s development blog for more updates and contribute to their kickstarter !
