Renegade Kid developing new experimental 2D game for Nintendo 3DS

Developer Renegade Kid is developing a new experimental 2D game for the Nintendo 3DS following its failed Cult Country Kickstarter campaign, co-founder Jools Watsham tweeted.

"As part of our healing process after the KS failure, we're developing a new experimental 2D game for 3DS. It has pixels and stuff. No cults," Watsham tweeted. The developer of the Dementium series and titles such as Treasurenauts (pictured above), added that the new "short and sweet" title will be self-funded and will not seek crowdfunding avenues to help with its development.

Cult County raised less than 10 percent of its targeted $580,000 goal, ending crowdfunding campaign with $46,736. The developer stated over the weekend via a Kickstarter update that it is "discussing other options" following the failure of its Kickstarter for episodic first-person horror game Cult CountyDuring an interview with Polygon last month, Watsham said that Cult County will be developed "regardless of what happens with the Kickstarter campaign," a sentiment he repeated on Twitter over the weekend.

Watsham also tweeted that news and a release date for episodic game called Moon Chronicles, a 3DS remake of 2009's first-person shooter for Nintendo DS titled Moon, will be revealed this week. The developer is "going to wait and see how Moon Chronicles does on 3DS before committing to another FPS for 3DS."
