Whatever HomeMake Is, It's Making Progress

I’m not averse to high-concept, experimental games. In fact, I’m quite fond of them. However, I still really don’t understand what HomeMake is. (Read More)

HomeMake: A Video Game Designed By Architects

July 11th - via: wtfgamersonly.com
Similar to video game designers, architects get to look at their creations, take a step back and say, “I made that.” However, there are always ingenious creations that remain only in the heads of architects. Unlikely to ever protrude in the real world, these ideas can easily come to life in video games; and Harvard architecture students Cory Seeger and Matthew Conway have done just that. (Read More)

Traditional game play exists in the form of puzzles and getting from point A to point B, but by and large the point of HomeMake is to simply observe your surroundings. (Read More)

HomeMake: An Interesting Looking Puzzle Platformer.

July 9th - via: landofgaming.net
It seems my new go-to solution to combat writer’s block, is to check out Kickstarter projects, and see what intrigues me. Things aren’t looking so good for Midora, which needs to raise almost $22,000 in four days, but my focus today will be a little more positive. There is a game that has not only reached its goal, but is intended to hit the PS3, PS4, Wii, WiiU, Xbox One and even the Dreamcast(I’ve heard of stranger things). It’s currently slated for PC, Mac and Linux, but if all goes well, console gamers can enjoy it too. That game is HomeMake. (Read More)

Harvard architecture students turn Tokyo into brain-melting digital playground

July 7th - via: killscreendaily.com
In games, we are constantly encountering and enduring impossible architecture. The Italian futurism of Halo, the menancing Citadel of Half-Life, and the more recent verdant twists of Fez. We spend most of our time as players occupying places that will never be, except with the occasion of a lark, such as Aram Bartholl’s attempt to build a 1:1 recreation of a famed level from Counter-Strike. We accept digital streets and by-ways that will never be. (Read More)

Kickstarter Profile: HomeMake

July 4th - via: strategyinformer.com
It's usually the case that the indie developers behind a Kickstarter campaign are amateurs looking for a big break, veterans who've broken away from “AAA” publishing, or individuals who are otherwise involved in the videogame industry. It's surprising then to see 3D platformer HomeMake presented by two architecture students with no substantial game design experience and no previously published games. (Read More)

Madness Is A City: HomeMake’s Crazy Mind-Swapping

July 3rd - via: rockpapershotgun.com
HomeMake is a game being made by architecture students, which makes sense because it looks like what would happen if a builder’s brain exploded, untethered itself from all limits of the physical world, and just vomited structural insanity every which way. (Read More)

Venture Forth Into The Ever-Changing Cityscape Of HomeMake, Now On Kickstarter

July 1st - via: indiestatik.com
There is no set character, no story, no convoluted narrative shoved through some arbitrary meatgrinder to get rid of the fat. Many games incidentally create a setting that feels like a character more than anyone in the actual world does. HomeMake is setting out to craft a game based entirely around that premise. Devoid of the usual story trappings of games, HomeMake is as much a spiritual exploration as it is a physical one. Its pursuit of such an experience has led it to Kickstarter, where it is looking for a few funds to make the final push. (Read More)

Urban Platformer HomeMake Close to Kickstarter Goal

June 27th - via: indiegamemag.com
Taking a first look at HomeMake, one might think it’s either the result of poor graphics planning, or the psychedelic dream of an urban developer. Judging by the description, we’re leaning towards the latter. In the game, the protagonist is the city, a bent, colorful construction with a cyberpunk edge. Its layout and features change every time the controlled character switches. (Read More)

Inception + Jet Grind Radio = HomeMake

June 16th - via: cliqist.com
I was actually contacted by the developers of HomeMake, the kind folks over at Archgame, because they noticed in my bio that I like pretty colors and flashing lights. As flattering as it is that my infantile response to pretty colors got me contacted by the developers of an awesome game, I have to say this: HomeMake looks awesome, and I’ve kicked myself three times today for almost letting it slip under the radar. HomeMake features a clean, stunning art style, creative level design, and a unique concept that takes a metaphor for city architecture and lets us frolic in it. (Read More)
