Andres Salazar talks 'Pariah Missouri,' Westerns and Kickstarter

September 12th - via: robot6.comicbookresources.com
Writer Andres Salazar puts a cool spin on the supernatural Western genre in Pariah, Missouri: The town itself anchors the book — Salazar calls it the “main character” — and he uses it as a vantage point to watch the comings and goings of an amazingly varied cast of characters, some with supernatural powers. He and artist Jose Pescador lay out the territory in Book 1, and assemble a sort of 19th-century Mod Squad to fight the forces of evil. (Read More)

Comic Review: Pariah, Missouri #1 by Andres Salazar

It is quite serendipitous that I decided to read and review Pariah, Missouri by Andres Salazar when I did. I just started reading Truman by David McCullough and his family settled in the part of Missouri that Pariah is set and the first chapter talks about the trials and tribulations of living in wild Missouri. The author actually did a good job capturing frontier Missouri life, although Salazar did over-exaggerate certain parts for the sake of the story. That can be forgiven, however, considering the story he was trying to tell. (Read More)

Pariah, Missouri: Comics and the Weird West

September 1st - via: lovetrain.super-coven.com
One of the beautiful things about the new channels available for the distribution for art, writing and film is that they’ve enabled me to pretty much opt out of mainstream entertainment while exposing a vista of creative voices to suit any fancy that might strike me. Psychedelic autobiography? That exists. Epic fantasy romance? Yup–acres of it. Occult Western? Absolutely! (Read More)

The A-Team set in a supernatural Western, Pariah book 2 on Kickstarter

I Have Seen (A Preview For) The Promised Land!

August 16th - via: bleedingcool.com
My name is Andres Salazar. I’m a storyteller. I’ve been hunkered down working on the second graphic novel in the series, Pariah Missouri. Part Huckleberry Finn part Twin Peaks, it’s a mash-up of some of my favorite stories and ideas all set in Antebellum 1857 Missouri. It’s Steampunk without the punk, but a good dose of religion, folk magic, bounty-hunters, slaves and demons. It’s the A-team with Hiram Buchanan an undercover Pinkerton, Nellie a feisty courtesan, Jean Lafitte a practitioner of voodoo from New Orleans and Toro a Mexican/Comanche bounty-hunter as they ferret out evil. (Read More)
