The Last Parsec Kickstarter

October 2nd - via: savage-reviews.com
Pinnacle Entertainment Group has begun their newest Kickstarter, The Last Parsec. The Last Parsec is a Scifi Setting that seems to focus on exploration. The format they are using for this is a little different than other settings. They are building on the Science Fiction Companion and pretty much using it as the players guide while writing 3 books that focus on specific location for players to explore. Each location can add new character options as well based on that location. I personally am not sure how I feel about this. (Read More)

Savage Worlds 2014-2015 Campaign Ideas

October 2nd - via: dicehaven.com
After our Dreadfall campaign ends (probably early Q1), I propose I run a Savage Worlds campaign. I still want to run Star Wars: Edge of the Empire, but I want to push that out 6-12 months until I’ve mastered the Savage Worlds system and have that firmly ensconced as a staple for our game group as our go-to system for one-shots and campaigns both short and long. (Read More)

Pinnacle Entertainment Group Addresses Gamer OCD Over New Savage Worlds Book Size

September 27th - via: bleedingcool.com
Back at Gen Con, Pinnacle Entertainment Group announced that they were moving their Savage Worlds game books from having two sizes (a standard 8.5″ x 11″ letter size and a 6″ x 9″ digest size) to publishing everything in a new standard graphic novel size (typically 6-5/8″ wide by 10-1/4″ high). As the new books began to roll out, this of course meant that some fans were unhappy that the new books didn’t “fit” with their old ones on their bookshelves. (Read More)

The Last Parsec Primer

September 26th - via: andyslack.wordpress.com
The Last Parsec is a loosely-defined sandbox setting, initially with three main setting books, each with a plot point campaign focussed on a single star system somewhere in the sandbox – where exactly doesn’t matter, since hyperspace travel times do not depend on the length of the journey. (Read More)

The Last Parsec - Three books containing space faring adventures in the Savage Worlds

September 24th - via: futileposition.com
I have a long-standing fondness for Savage Worlds from PEG Inc. It helps, of course, that I was pretty active on the old Great White Games forums way back in the day and that Savage Worlds was one of the first indie RPGs (maybe the first) that I ever came across. Nostalgia aside, though, Savage Worlds is a fast-moving, combat-centric, action-oriented system. It helps that the entire core rulebook is only $9.99 as well and is pretty easily hacked to play any sort of action RPG game that you could possibly want (I will say, in my experience, the system works best in action-oriented games, but that could be partially the result of the games I have played in it). (Read More)

[FORUM POST] The Last Parsec - Sci-Fi Setting with Minis for Savage Worlds

September 24th - via: forum.reapermini.com

The Last Parsec

September 24th - via: robjustice.net
I spent so many years podcasting about the RPG industry that I managed to find myself on numerous press release lists. I’ve done a good job clearing myself out in the last year, since it seems unfair to include me in a list of people who could boost your signal. Not that I ever advertised for press releases anyway. Well, it seems like for the first time in my life I’m going to share a press release. (Read More)
