Kickstarter Katchup

April 28th - via: rockpapershotgun.com
Jagged Alliance: Flashback arrives in the Katchup this week. I’ve expected (and hoped for) a Jagged Alliance crowdfunding attempt for some time now. As soon as it became obvious that Kickstarter was a place where old franchises could revive themselves, every week that the mercenaries didn’t appear was slightly more unsettling than the last. Would I rather have a direct sequel without a crowdfunding campaign? Perhaps. (Read More)

Kickstarter Katchup – April 21st 2013

April 21st - via: rockpapershotgun.com
Two $100,000 winners this week and a few other projects close to the finish line. While I was compiling the column this week, I realised I was keeping track of the number of projects that apparently ‘contained roguelike elements’. It’s about 90%, although to be fair I stopped keeping track almost as soon as I’d started so that figure is entirely made up. Perhaps my memory fails me, but I don’t recall the term being anything like as popular 12 months ago. Of course, some would argue that the meaning has been lost and that anything with procedural generation or a modicum of difficulty is now wearing the roguelike hat, but that in itself surely tells us something. Games want to be like rogue, which is far more agreeable than the days when every other one wanted to be like a soldier or a space marine. (Read More)

Kickstarter Katchup

April 14th - via: rockpapershotgun.com
Last weekend took on a life of its own, which is the sort of thing weekends should probably do more often, and I was stranded away from my trusty keyboard and therefore unable to type words about games that might exist at some point in the future. This was a sad thing. Fortunately, missing a week means that there are more winners than ever before and the bumper crop contains two games that I’ve played and enjoyed, at least three that I look forward to playing when they are released and a project that makes me realise how much I want to play with an Oculus Rift. (Read More)

Worlds Of Magic Hopes To Master Kickstarter

April 8th - via: rockpapershotgun.com
When Wasteland Interactive announced Worlds of Magic, it was hard not to see the comparisons with Microprose’s stately and delicious fantasy strategy title, Master of Magic. Partly that was because of the echo in the name and partly because the press release said – and I paraphrase – “we would really really like to make a superb modern version of Master of Magic. Really.” (Read More)

(Read More)

Trzeci polski projekt na Kickstarterze (pierwszym był M.O.R.E., drugim Gloria Victis) to Worlds of Magic, strategia fantasy w popularnym przed laty modelu 4X (Explore, Expand, Exploit, Exterminate). Łódzki developer chce zebrać 30 tysięcy funtów. Gra powstaje od jakiegoś czasu, a więc zbierana suma pieniędzy nie stanowi całości budżetu. Sporo funduszy już zostało zainwestowanych. (Read More)

Tacticular Cancer Interview: Worlds of Magic

March 26th - via: tacticularcancer.com
When a developer starts a thread on our forum about them making a new turn-based fantasy strategy game called Worlds of Magic we tend to take note. Especially when their feature list and even artwork reminds a whole lot of that staple of the genre; Master of Magic. I spoke with Leszek Lisowski, founder of Wastelands Interactive and Aaron Etheridge, lead developer of Lucid Dreamers about the power of crowdfunding, gaming in general and their new project in particular. (Read More)

Polskie studio stworzy Worlds of Magic, duchowego następcę Master of Magic

Long has the wait been for a true Master of Magic. But now, finally, championed by Wastelands Interactive, a challenger emerges, setting out to boldly reclaim that proud lineage. Who Will Master The Worlds Of Magic?

February 11th - via: rockpapershotgun.com
Wastelands Interactive, developers of such strategic wargames as Strategic War In Europe, reckon Worlds of Magic will be “a genuine spiritual successor of Simtex’s 4X Master of Magic”, and bless my boots if the picture above doesn’t resemble the introduction to Simtek’s aged wonder-work. These chaps have done their homework, that much is clear, but will their Worlds have a similarly splendid intro, with the most memorable vocal performance in a game, save for the vendor selling frozen treats in Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe? I don’t know. I do have a feature list though and I’ve posted that below, along with Master of Magic’s intro. (Read More)

Habemus remake de «Master of Magic»

(Read More)
