tinyBuild has canceled the JetGetters Kickstarter thanks to an angel investor

April 17th - via: screwattack.com
JetGetters, the crowdfunded multiplayer game of my dreams, has just canceled their Kickstarter. Because someone decided to give them a ton of money to make the game. Between GDC and PAX, an angel investor came in to cover the cost of development, obviously negating their crowdfunding needs. Additionally the development cycle has been delayed slightly so tinyBuild will have more time to polish the project. (Read More)

Feature: Kickstarter's Wii U and 3DS Campaigns - 6th April

April 6th - via: nintendolife.com
Kickstarter is the crowdfunding platform loved by all — OK, maybe not all. It remains a fairly divisive platform, with some heavily delayed projects and certain multi-billion dollar sales of formerly crowdfunded products causing consternation; these negatives are arguably countered by a range of exciting projects made possible through its campaigns. It's vital in an era where even download-only developments can have a level of complexity necessitating a budget of hundreds of thousands of dollars; on the flipside some starting out in the industry look for a first break, requesting surprisingly low amounts. (Read More)

Introducing JetGetters, A Fusion Of Just Cause 2 And BF3

March 14th - via: rockpapershotgun.com
“We are about to reveal a new game!” No Time To Explain dev/burgeoning indie publisher Alex Nichiporchik told me over Skype. Almost reflexively, I braced myself for an excited slurry spew about some crazy new platformer or a zany comedy adventure or an emotional tale that would rock me to my very core. “It’s basically a fusion of Just Cause 2 and Battlefield 3,” he proceeded to tell me. “…Oh,” I replied, briefly mistaking a flock of birds fluttering by outside for a car tethered to a plane with a wildman surfing atop it, as I often do. “Go on.” And so he did. Go below to find out about JetGetters‘ plane-jacking antics, its accompanying Kickstarter (because of course), how TinyBuild hopes to make dogfights more interesting, shifting levels, purposefully limited player counts, and why TinyBuild’s not on board with free-to-play. (Read More)
