Shadowborne Games talked with Ryan at UK Games Expo this past weekend about the reveal of Oathsworn: Into The Deepwood. This story-based miniatures game features legacy mechanics and a twisting narrative as well as brutal combat.

Oathsworn: Into The Deepwood is a cooperative or solitaire adventure game where you play a band of heroes delving into a fantastic story which has you defending the last cities against the terrors that dwell out there in The Deepwood. You'll be delving into a story which is presented as part of an interactive storybook either as part of a hardback book or a companion app read by James Cosmo (Lord Commander Mormont in Games Of Thrones).

Each of these stories then flows into some epic boss battles with these larger than life miniatures. Here you can see the demo that they showed off at UK Games Expo which involved the insidious Brood Mother and her horde of rats (every quest starts off with rats right?).

The really fascinating aspect of this for me is the legacy story that they're telling here where you're actions are going to have consequences. It's something which has been fascinating to see develop in games like Gloomhaven, Kingdom Death: Monster and of course Pandemic: Legacy and Oathsworn seem to be taking it to the next level.

Also, any game which features mighty miniatures like these (some 100mm tall!) and a Bear Warrior needs to be on your radar.

What do you make of what Shadowborne have been showing off?
