LONDON – A British sportswear produer has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the development of a revolutionary new garment which provides athletes with a range of performance enhancing fitness features. The ‘ReForm’ range by Python Performance uses a weaving technology which which helps deliver pinpoint heating, cooling, compression and joint stabilisation to users.
Python says this technology has been created to help remove the need for kinesiology tape, which is a type of elastic adhesive designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion.
The subsequent garments are comprised of a duel layered Lycra backed material which grips and supports the skin in the same way that kinesiology tape interacts with wearers – the benefit being that it removes the need for trained individuals to apply any tape, whilst also eradicating any inevitable peeling off process.
Labelling it as the “next step in performance sportswear”, Python says the technology is already making waves among sport scientists and athletes, and has even sparked interest from the University of Birmingham – its sport science department is in the process of testing the fabric technology, with dissertations on the innovation due later in the year.
“We’ve had an amazing response to the fabric technology we’ve developed, so we’re extremely excited to launch our Kickstarter campaign which will allow us to take the innovations to the people who will benefit,” said Oscar Ryndziewicz, CEO of Python Performance.
“Our ambition is to provide not only athletes but anyone who enjoys sport and fitness with the most innovative clothing, so they can outperform themselves every time. We have created the next step in performance sportswear and we honestly believe none of the big sportswear giants are making their activewear in this way.”
Python has even been endorsed by world record holding track and field sprint athlete Rick Beardsel, who said: “I’m really excited, I haven’t seen anything like Python Performance before. I can be quite injury prone, so the ReForm fabric strips will offer support where I need it and is really beneficial.
“With kinesiology tape, you need a trained expert to put it on whereas with the Python Performance clothes you don’t, and you can feel the compression straight away. When I performed in them, I was able to warm up quicker than I normally would’ve done which helps with injury prevention. I’m definitely going to use it, and looking forward to doing different sorts of sessions and seeing how else it performs – it’s been great.”
With the Kickstarter campaign going live today, Python is hoping to raise a total of £20,000 to help fund the first batch of garments.
