Meet the 'ePint': the clever glass that can tell when you've had enough

Once upon a time, a pint glass was just for sipping beer - but a clever new invention means your drinking vessel can keep track of how many drinks you've had, alert you when your football team scores a goal, and potentially even book a taxi when you start to slur your words.

The 'ePint' is the brainchild of US company Xtreme Tech LLC, who are currently seeking funding on Kickstarter.

The smart glass glows with a blue light which switches off when the glass is empty, signalling for a refill from bar staff.  It calculates how many glasses you've consumed, has a built-in bottle opener at the base of the glass (so you never need to use your teeth again), and will even tell you much how water you need to drink to avoid a hangover.

Drinkers can also sync the polycarbonate glass to their favourite sports teams, so it lights up in the team's colours when they score.  And most usefully, the makers say it could be programmed to order a taxi when you reach a certain number of pints.

Drinking from glass is so last year.
