You can now download a demo for To The Death, a game former Titanfall and Call of Duty developers are trying to fund on Kickstarter.

To the death mixes the 2D beat'em up and shoot'em genres to create something new. The demo lets you experiment with the basic combat mechanics, pitting you against never-ending waves of enemies. You can download demo to PC or Mac for free from the Kickstarter page.

“We wanted to develop a video game that's easy to pick up but hard to put down," Scary Mostro Co-Founder Todd Alderman said. Alderman was formerly Lead Game Designer at Infinity Ward and Respawn Entertainment. "With art direction from Section Studios’ Cecil Kim who’s been instrumental with the God of War franchise, the concept art and visual effects are as captivating as the game is fun.”

Alderman co-founded Scary Mostro with Francesco Gigliotti, who was the former Lead Software Engineer at Infinity Ward and Resapwn Entertainment, and was directly responsible for the first-person shooter controls that have since become popular with many other console shooters.

Scary Mostro is hoping to reach a funding goal of $400,000. With 17 days to go, it currently stands at $32,000 from 402 backers. You can back the game on Kickstarter for as low as $5, or pledge $20 and get the game when its completed.
