Daniel McVicar writes,

I teamed up with Gianluca Gugliotta (DC and Marvel Wonderboy Illustrator) and we are putting out an amazing new graphic novel The Last Cavalier launching on Kickstarter. We are PRINTING THIS ONLY, not making a .pdf version. Why?

I know, the future is digital. OK, I'm a Hollywood guy who worked at CBS for 20 years on The Bold And The Beautiful and made regular appearances on Craig Ferguson's show. However, I got involved with the early online video movement with my McVlog and am now an honorary Geek. Digital is cool, is now, I read most of my books on an ereader.
I jump from screen to screen, from tablet to phone to computer. Watch TV on Appletv with my smartphone nearby and an iPad near. I get it.

But you see, this edition is the special one, and I see it as a Collector's edition. This is a book to touch, to enjoy with your hands and your eyes, to smell the ink! I did not want to diminish the collector's value to those who help this project get started by issuing a.pdf version.

I also looked at the numbers on Kickstarter editions. For levels with just a .pdf digital version, there was usually only 12% of the total raised coming from those levels. It didn't make sense for me to diminish the collector's value for the smaller additional level of support.

Oh, this project The Last Cavalier will get licensed to publishers. It will appear in English, but also French, Italian, German, Spanish. It will get pirated later and printed in Turkish. It may become a film or a series of television films. It may be a video game.

There will only be one first time. And I want to keep the integrity of it.

The story deserves it. The amazing artwork of Gianluca Gugliotta deserves it.

So, Bleeding Cool folks, you deserve it too.
