Ray’s the Dead Resurrects Its Kickstarter

August 19th - via: hardcoregamer.com
Remember last year when Ray’s the Dead tried for Kickstarter success, only to pull the plug on the campaign a few days from the end? Admitted, it was only a third of the way to its goal with very little time left on the clock, but Ragtag Studio figured a better presentation combined with a business opportunity that popped up during the campaign would lead to more likely success. (Read More)

A Zombie Is You: Ray’s The Dead Trailllllerrrr

May 17th - via: rockpapershotgun.com
Sometimes a pun appears that is so bad that it manages to elevate all other culture. I’ve tried and failed many times to create such a pun in my lab, and the many RPS comment threads are probably ground zero of several pun epidemics that have taken their toll on the world. It’s over. We failed. I’ve discovered a pun so grotesquely awful that even Simon Cowell’s TV shows and celebrity biographies with the word “Dream” in the title have just taken one step up on the culture-o-meter. Ray’s The Dead, a Pikmin-like strategy game about a zombie called Ray and his undead friends, has just made the world a better place. (Read More)

A zombie game that wants players to use their braaaains!

May 8th - via: nbcnews.com
Zombies have invaded pretty much every nook and cranny of popular culture today, with acclaimed video games like "Call of Duty" and "Plants vs. Zombies" leaving hordes of insatiable gamers hungry for more brain-gobbling action. But how many of the zombie stories we all know and love actually put us in the position of the living dead themselves? (Read More)

Ray's the Dead is like a zombie Pikmin hybrid

May 8th - via: destructoid.com
I got a chance to play Ray's the Dead at PAX East this year and came away really looking forward to the game. It has solid mechanics, great art, and most importantly it had personality. After I finished playing, I felt like the game truly was unique and refreshing. Yes, it shares a strong resemblance to Pikmin in terms of controls, but its theme and concept are so different that it separates itself from the Nintendo classic. (Read More)

A Zombie Game Where You're The Zombie

May 8th - via: kotaku.com
Lots of games feature zombies. Not many games let you play as them. Maybe that's why I've taken an interest in Ray's The Dead, a new Kickstarter project that promises to be a zombie game unlike any others, mostly because the zombies are the stars. This is an "action-stealth-puzzler" where you play as a zombie who can run around recruiting other zombies and converting humans to your cause. (Read More)

Ray's the Dead partially resurrects Stubbs the Zombie on Kickstarter

May 7th - via: joystiq.com
Ray's the Dead is more than an action zombie puzzler – it's a feat of electrical engineering. As a twice-removed successor to Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel without a Pulse, Ray's the Dead offers 1980s undead-centric gameplay inspired by Pikmin and, most adorably, a main character with a glowing lightbulb on top of his head. Yes, his name is Ray. (Read More)

Ray's the Dead launches crowdfunding, crosses Pikmin with zombies

May 7th - via: shacknews.com
It's fair to say that the gaming community has started to suffer a fair bit of zombie fatigue. The undead have clawed at, gnawed on, and otherwise infested multiple game genres and even established series. The classic trope still has a little life left in it, though, as long as studios put some effort into a creative twist. Ragtag Studio's Ray's the Dead appears to have that spark, and may scratch a dormant itch thanks to its inspirations. (Read More)

The Zombie Genre Is Reinvigorated With Ray's The Dead [Preview]

May 7th - via: shogungamer.com
If there’s one thing that gamers have seen a lot of this generation it has to be zombies. Sure, the hordes of undead have been a part of our culture ever since the 1960s when George Romero brought them to the mainstream in Night of the Living Dead, but video games in particular have taken zombies to unforeseen heights of popularity in the last few years. (Read More)

Ray's the Dead Kickstarter campaign launches with Pikmin, Stubbs the Zombie influences

May 7th - via: polygon.com
A Kickstarter campaign for Ragtag Studio's stealthy action puzzler Ray's The Dead launched today, seeking funds for a game heavily influenced by Pikmin and Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse. In Ray's the Dead, which is in development for Windows PC, Mac and Linux, players take control of Ray, the leader of a zombie army. It's in development by a team of ex-Wideload Games developers who released Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse in 2005. (Read More)

Ray's the Dead is Pikmin with zombies

March 25th - via: destructoid.com
When the co-founder of Ragtag Studio, Chris Cobb, told me that Ray's the Dead was Pikmin with zombies, I was just about ready to hand over my wallet. I'm not even a huge fan of Pikmin, but for whatever reason this idea perked my ears up. What if instead of commanding cute little plants to fix a spaceship I was working with zombies to understand why and when I became a zombie? The premise certainly was interesting. (Read More)
