Kickstarter Game Developer Haiku Collection

September 2nd - via: cliqist.com
It’s a bit of a tradition that whenever I interview someone for Cliqist I ask them to put together a brief haiku to describe them, their company, or their game. Since we’re celebrating the one year anniversary of Cliqist this week I figure it would be as good a time as any to look back at some of them. All the haiku’s were written by the person being interviewed, and are listed in the order in which they appeared on the site. Some are great, some not so much, but each is interesting in its own right. (Read More)

La-Mulana 2 Kickstarter concludes; there will be curry

February 23rd - via: joystiq.com
La-Mulana 2 reached its $200,000 Kickstarter goal almost a week ago, but it wasn't until yesterday that the funding period came to a close, giving the 2D platformer time to collect a few extra coins. The Kickstarter campaign ended with a total of $266,670, which means the inclusion of a "Father's Diary" mode to help bridge the story gap between La-Mulana and La-Mulana 2, as well as an in-game bestiary. There will also be ... curry. (Read More)

La-Mulana 2 Hits Kickstarter Goal, Buys Developer Curry

February 17th - via: rockpapershotgun.com
To certain audiences, La-Mulana is the Japanese indie platformer that crossed Indiana Jones with Metroid. To me, and I suspect a lot of other people, it’s one of the games most responsible for inspiring Spelunky. That puts it in Wasteland territory, in my head; it inspired a thing I love, and so a lot of that love transfers. (Read More)

Takumi Naramura Discusses La-Mulana 2

February 10th - via: cliqist.com
Last time we checked in on La-Mulana 2 the team over at NIGORO had just launched the games’ Kickstarter campaign, and it was unclear whether or not they were going to hit their aggressive $200,000 funding goal. Now, with about two weeks left in their campaign, NIGOGO is poised to have the funding they need to create a proper sequel to their classic side scroller. La-Mulana 2′s jack of all trades development director, Takumi Naramura, was kind enough to answer some of our questions regarding his news games’ development, its difficulty, as well as why such a successful studio is crowdfunding. (Read More)

Kickstarter Picks - February Edition

February 4th - via: gamrreview.com
Man’s fascination with robots has been around since the early 1930’s. Since then it has expanded from the simple notion of humanoid robots. The biggest craze as of late has been man-controlled robots, or “Mechas”. These mechas have grown popular in Japan thanks to the Gundam franchise and in the US thanks to Chromehounds, Hawken, and others. M.A.V. (Modular Assault Vehicle) is being created by Chad Mauldin, a veteran of the gaming industry who has worked on Fear 3, Borderlands 2, and more. (Read More)

Indiana Jones MetroidVania "La Mulana 2" Goes To Kickstarter

January 26th - via: complex.com
With its equal parts Indiana Jones and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, La-Mulana made waves among the indie game community for being one of the toughest, most maddeningly opaque adventure games ever, largely after it was remade in a modernized 16-bit aesthetic in 2011. Last September developer Takumi Naramura announced plans to do a sequel to the game, and earlier this week La-Mulana 2 indeed popped up on Kickstarter (Read More)

January 21st - via: joystiq.com
La-Mulana 2 is seeking $200,000 in Kickstarter funding to be made for Windows PC, a turn of events as unexpected as one of the spelunking plaformer's traps. Publisher Playism and developer Nigoro first announced the sequel to the WiiWare and PC game at last year's Tokyo Game Show, and now the two studios have a month to raise $200,000 and greenlight the game. The Return of La-Mulana

January 20th - via: cliqist.com
La-Mulana is one of those games that hit me from out of nowhere. It’s retro style isn’t uncommon, but the execution was flawless; it had to have been done by some early 90′s game development masters with bottomless pockets. And the difficulty? No one had made a game that difficult since Battletoads. But sure enough, it was a new game from a small group of indie developers in Japan. (Read More)
