Playing With Fear: Right Where You Are Sitting Now Right Where You Are Sitting Now

November 21st - via: sittingnow.co.uk
My experience with computer games (or “video games” as they became to a cooler generation) runs pretty much concurrently with the development of home computers. I remember playing Sun Tzu’s “Art of War” on the Tandy TRS-80 and being particularly fond of my Amiga 500, thinking it was pretty much the most futuristic thing I would ever have. However, parental and financial constraints meant that my gaming was kept in check, and apart from the odd liasion with a Sega or Nintendo console it became a thing of the past, relegated by new found passion for music. (Read More)

An interview with the creator of Playing With Fear

November 18th - via: survivalhorroronline.com
I’ve backed quite a few horror game projects on Kickstarter. But today I’ve got something special. It’s not a game but a documentary about horror games in general called Playing With Fear. But I also had some questions I wanted to be answered so I contacted the director Anthony Carpendale to get me some answers about this awesome project! (Read More)

Kickstart This: Playing With Fear Documentary Aims To Dissect The World Of Horror Games

November 5th - via: indiestatik.com
Everyone has a unique experience with horror games. Sneaking to your neighbor’s house as a kid to check out some new game called Resident Evil, being tricked into playing a screamer for the first time on Newgrounds, crowding around the computer with your friends to try out this Slender thing everyone’s been talking about. Some of my earliest and favorite games of all time are of the frightening variety, and while many of us can track our own personal histories with these projects, there has yet to be a definitive examination of them, as a whole… until now! (Read More)

'Playing With Fear' Explores Horror Games And Its Community

November 2nd - via: bloody-disgusting.com
UK based filmmaker Ant Carpendale wants to make a film. Not any film, mind you — this film would follow, disect and discuss one of my favorite things in the world — horror video games — and would be accompanied by a web series. A lot of the games that are set to be featured in Ant’s documentary are indie horror titles I’ve spent quite a bit of time covering here on Bloody Disgusting. Unique and incredibly promising titles like Among the Sleep, Darkwood, DreadOut, Neverending Nightmares, Fran Bow, Routine and Eyes, among others. (Read More)

Currently Kickstarting: Playing With Fear

October 31st - via: kickstartadventure.com
The horror…the horror! What is it about scary games that draw us to them? Why do we let our fears out and play around with pixelated horrors and gore? I think science is still trying to figure that one out, but in my opinion it’s because we LIKE to be scared out of our wits. Which is why we’re featuring a documentary on these creepy and horrifying games. Take a look into the looking glass at Playing With Fear, a feature film and Web series dissecting the art, craft and community of horror video games. (Read More)
