Writer for ‘Unrest’ on Kickstarter developers – “you are not Valve”

July 29th - via: gamerheadlines.com
The last few years have taken an interesting turn for the video game industry. Beginning arguably with games such as Minecraft and its enormous success, the indie scene received a massive boom, cultivating in projects such as Steam Greenlight and Kickstarter. It’s not really until now that an indie developer has come out and provided a completely honest postmortem of their title, containing the good, the bad, the ugly, and a refreshingly transparent critique of the Kickstarter system. (Read More)

Unrest. Not Your Typical RPG.

July 25th - via: cliqist.com
RPGs are probably one of the most well-loved video game genres out there. After all, you have the chance to jump into someone else’s amazing story and (typically) inhabit fantastical worlds. However, Unrest is a very different game from what you might expect of RPGs. Yes, it is a fantasy setting, but takes its cues from ancient India. Instead of embarking on a sprawling adventure, fighting aliens or monsters, you begin as a young woman poised with the threat of an arranged marriage. I explained this introductory story more in my preview as the demo showcases this initial story. (Read More)

Unrest lives up to its Kickstarter promises of being an unusual RPG

July 23rd - via: indiegames.com
Unrest is a story-heavy RPG set in a fantasy version of ancient India. It takes place in a city that has been beset by drought for so long that other problems have taken root. Unlike most RPGs, however, the player does not take the part of a party of heroes out to save everyone. Instead, the player switches back and forth between several characters who are just normal people making hard choices in an attempt to survive in desperate times. It has the same kind of moral punch as Papers, Please thrown into a branching narrative in which actions taken with one character can effect the prospects of another. (Read More)

Take a Trip Back to Ancient India In Unrest

June 26th - via: cliqist.com
Have you been looking for a RPG with a more unique vibe? Unrest hailed itself as “an unconventional RPG” back when it was crowdfunded last year. Many people were intrigued by this game with an ancient India setting and backed Pyrodactyl Games’ project far beyond their goal of $3,000. Finally, Unrest is nearing launch. Steam users may have noticed that a demo popped up alongside a store page for the game. Hopefully this demo helps tide players over before its release! (Read More)

New Kickstarter campaign aims to make a game set in ancient India

May 26th - via: tech2.in.com
It's very rare that we get to see an Indian developer stepping up to make a game that will be more appreciated by core gamers than what Indian developers have churned out so far. Indian software programmer Arvind Raja Yadav has taken to Kickstarter in an attempt to develop a game. The Kickstarter campaign for the game, dubbed Unrest, originally had a goal of $3,000 (approximately Rs 1,66,260), but had surpassed it goal in the first day itself. (Read More)
