City Quest Oculus Rift mode drags 2D adventure game into delightful 3D (video)

May 30th - via: shacknews.com
As time of yore known only as 'retro' trundles towards the early Nineties, developer Stone Monkey Studios has combined two cool but sort-of-incompatible things from 20-odd years ago: 2D adventure games and virtual reality. In a charming bit of creativity (not to mention creative marketing), the two-man team created an Oculus Rift mode for City Quest: A Point & Click Adventure where you play it on a 3D computer at a 3D desk in a 3D room. (Read More)

City Quest Is A Silly, Sierra/LucasArts-Inspired Adventure

May 27th - via: rockpapershotgun.com
I have to admit, I wasn’t expecting much out of City Quest. It certainly doesn’t look like much, and “retro”-styled games are a dime a trillion these days. But I also spied loving odes to the LucasArts and Sierra adventures of yore on its website, so I decided I’d have a go at its free demo anyway. I’m quite happy I did. City Quest is that rare brand of adventure that plumbs the scummiest depths of tastefulness, yet manages to emerge not covered in, well, crap. It’s an unrelentingly witty little thing, constantly rewarding exploration and “what if…?” thinking with scrumptious details and rapid-fire joke flurries. They’re not all winners, but the hits far outweigh the misses. More info and a trailer after the break. (Read More)

Kickstart This: City Quest

May 24th - via: indiestatik.com
The story is simple: your typical US Southerner hops on a plane to go to the big city, their luggage catches fire in the airport, then they have to hustle their way up through the big, alien city and learn the ropes as they do in order to come out on top. City Quest, it’s called, when country bumpkin meets the tall buildings and street lights. (Read More)
