Which isn't to say the developers aren't hoping that the promise of a side-scrolling ARPG mystery can't attract more funds. Kickstarter Weekly: Witchmarsh, Within and Pale Blue
May 22nd - via: thekoalition.com
Welcome back to The Koalition’s Kickstarter Weekly. It’s been a while since I’ve been able to find a common theme between each of three games, and that trend continues this week, unfortunately. In the meantime, I found three different games that either take an existing genre and apply it to a new setting such as Witchmarsh, or create an unusual, promising hybrid of genres like Within and Pale Blue. However, I was THIS close to finding three interesting games whose titles began with a “w.” Oh well. (Read More)

Witchmarsh Is A Baldur’s Gate-Inspired RPG In The 1920s
May 19th - via: rockpapershotgun.com
And not just any 1920s – the occult 1920s, to be precise. In America these were not roaring ’20s so much as they were snarling ’20s, ’20s stained by shadow and fear – not of what was known, but what was unknowable. Usually it just ended up being your run-of-the-mill Cthulhu End of Days scenario, but sometimes… other things. Witchmarsh is an action-RPG set in said time of menace, but it’s also thrumming with the music and culture of the era. I always hoped the end of the world would be set to jaunty jazz. Oh, and the game’s primary influences? Baldur’s Gate and Wizardry, of all things. It looks brilliant. Trailer below. (Read More)

The Roaring RPG, Witchmarsh
May 18th - via: cliqist.com
The roaring twenties, a time of such youth, culture, and progress. The times were changing and roles were shifting in our society. Swing, jazz, alcohol, and parties like you couldn’t imagine. It was a time to remember. Now, let’s apply this to an RPG. As a sucker for any sort of period piece, whether it’s film, television, or games, I’m all over it. (Read More)
