Heart Machine has been running a Kickstarter campaign over the last month in an attempt to make Hyper Light Drifter a reality and to say it has been successful would be an understatement.
Initially hoping to nab $27,000 in funding, the developer is now approaching the $450,000 mark with just seven days left to run - that's about 1,657 percent more than it was looking for.
The current confirmed platforms include PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 4, Vita and OUYA and Heart Machine did say last week it hopes to include Wii U, stating if the campaign reached half a million dollars it could be possible.
Well, Nintendo's system is now an official stretch goal after the team confirmed it has had talks with the company:
After completing talks with Nintendo and wrapping our minds around the time and resources needed, we are extremely excited to announce an official stretch goal for Wii U! Yes, we love this platform and it makes us giddy!
The Wii U target is $550,000 and should it be hit, all backers who pledged $15 and above will be able to choose between a Wii U, Steam, PlayStation 4, Vita or Ouya key. They can also have a DRM free copy should they prefer.
Hyper Light Drifter is a 2D action RPG that works in a similar fashion to many Legend of Zelda titles. Indeed, Heart Machine says it plays like A Link to the Past and Diablo, while it features a dark and detailed interconnected world that has many alternate paths and secrets to find.

The Wii U eShop is going to be loaded with indie games over the next year. My poor wallet.
Heh, I've backed quite a few of said indie games on Kickstarter, so my wallet's already taken the punishment in advance.
Ahhh, please let the stretch goal be reached!
I saw this game while looking around the indie games on Kickstarter (and then again when the Shantae Kickstarter offered some DLC based off of it) and I was so disappointed that it wasn't coming to a system I own (my PC is rubbish).
But yes, I am excited!
I know it would mess up the tic-tac-toe box but maybe NL should add a kick starter box to Channels.
@5ony They're going to get it. After recently watching the Shantae kickstarter, it was really cool to see how it jumped up at the, and they were really far from their goals.
This one is actually doing much better than Shantae, and with only 100,000 to go with a week left, they'll get it, plus a few more stretch goals. This game will end up being really loaded like Mighty No. 9
They're already about to get the next goal that's before the WiiU.
Just based on mathematics, it would be impossible at this rate not to completely, and I love this phrase, "smash it". So no more IF questions, let's see some more WHEN, as in "when can I buy it"?
$100,000 in a week? It's been done before, and with Mighty No.9 and Shantae out of the way, it doesn't have as much competition. Let's get this done!
I'll gladly back this if it hits the Wii U goal. It looks like a really great game and I'm glad there's a chance it might come now.
Just backed it with a dollar! Hope it comes to the Wii U! (fingers crossed)
looks incredible!
I really hope this happens, I backed this game a while back when Wayforward mentioned it on the Half-Genie Hero page. It looks super cool.
Hopefully it meets that goal. Looks pretty cool.
At the time of writing this if the 17,754 backers each pitched in an extra $6 the goal would be reached
Here's to hoping. Certainly looks Wii U-worthy.
That's something I've been hopin for since the campaign have been weirdly shooting up money the past couple of days or so. Having this on the U would be win.
I have been charged already for Shantae and No. 9, so I may add something for this, but not as much as I gave to those two. I guess every bit counts.
omg this looks awesome
yes this does look awesome
I never played any Diablo games so not sure what that means with the ALTTP and Diablo mixture. Same as Sinalefa; just got charged for both my backing for MM#9 and Shantae, so I'm on the lookout for supporting other WiiU indie titles I'm interested in.
Yes! This home looks amazing!
Already pledged in the hope for the Wii U version with off-screen play but I think that the stretch goal is ridiculously high!
Did all the people that hope for the Wii U version pledge already? Otherwise it's not gonna happen!!
Come on guys lets get this game on Wii U, so pledge now!
Hyper Light Drifter looks fantastic.
It looks good. If it was $500k, I might pledge. But at $550k, it will be tough to hit and I don't feel like supporting a game that I would never get if it does not come to the WiiU. Too bad there is not a contingency funding option.
(Also, why is the WiiU stretch goal more than twice the Playstation stretch goal?)
@mike_intv
I emailed the developer through the Kickstarter page. I said I thought that the price for the Wii U version was too high. Naturally the developer didn't go into it, but he did say that he was confident that we would get to the $550K marker. But! we all have to pitch in of course (that's me saying, not the developer). So...pledge!
Oh, and he confirmed off-screen play!
Intrigued i am , the music touched me right of the back. I'll keep an eye out for this one if it makes the cut ~
