JumpCore Productions, established by founding CEO for Cryptic Studios, have launched a funding campaign for its new title, a zombie-centric real-time strategy game called Undead Overlord.
According to Cameron Petty, Undead Overlord turns the zombie genre on its head, "a breath of rotting putrescence in the zombie games space," by putting players in control of the undead masses. In gameplay, players use zombies as a resource, taking control of each human unit killed and turned undead.
Players can take advantage of undead special attacks, as well as the ability to customize Boss Zombie mutations with behavior and abilities modifiers. The game's twist is inspired by games like Dungeon Keeper, with a nod given to movies like the Re-animator for its gore and horror styling.
The title is in development for PC and tablets, which will include a custom touch screen interface for the devices. JumpCore Productions' recently launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funding for the game, with an initial funding target of $60,000. You can see the game in action in the trailer below, released in July.
