Liege creators porting the game to PS4, Vita, Wii U, Linux

Development on Liege, John Rhee's modern re-imagining of a classic 16-bit role-playing game, will expand to include PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Linux and Wii U, according to updates on the Kickstarter page.

Liege is a cross-platform, party-based tactical role-playing game where players explore the lives of ordinary characters placed in extraordinary circumstances. It's currently planned as a three-story arc, with the first game launching in 2014.

The PS4, Vita and Linux ports were unlocked after the Kickstarter campaign surpassed its $48,000 stretch goal. Rhee wrote that he's excited to develop for the PS4 because PlayStation titles such as Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy 7 and Suikoden have been "a huge influence on the design for Liege."

The game was approved for Wii U development yesterday, which Rhee described as "only fitting, given its roots in classics RPGs from the SNES era." Changes needed to create the Wii U port have already been factored into the $48,000 stretch goal, though a second goal is listed to include hardware support. That goal of $51,000 has been met as well.

Liege's Kickstarter has only three days left on its campaign and will end July 28. With the help of about 1,800 backers, the campaign has raised more than $52,000.
