Tabletop publisher Acheron Games last week launched a new Kickstarter for its long-standing series ‘Lex Arcana’ on behalf of Quality Games. A tabletop game with strong ties to Italian culture and a game that has been played worldwide by many over the last 30 years, Lex Arcana returns to the scene with three new volumes: ‘Roma’, ‘Rise of Atlantis’, and ‘The Fall’ and the goal for this Kickstarter has been surpassed hundreds of times over just like the publisher’s previous titles—with over 350 thousand Euros raised.
For supporters of the project on Kickstarter, exclusive physical goods are available as part of backing the project. Lex Arcana, the historic role-playing game that brought the Italian scene to the international stage, returns with a new series of manuals for a completely new Kickstarter campaign.
After having raised more than 350 thousand euros with the first three crowdfundings, bringing the Cohors Arcana to all corners of the globe, Acheron Games and the imprint Quality Games are renewing the formula to offer the Custodes – the players of Lex Arcana – one of the most ambitious geographical expansions ever and two completely new manuals, with a gaming experience that will expand the potential of the Lex Arcana line.
The first one is, in fact, Roma, the capital, as a geographical module in its own right that will take the Custodes from the marble columns of the Senate to the dark alleys of the Suburra; Rise of Atlantis, the first official campaign of Lex Arcana, a journey that will take the Custodes along the coasts and beyond the borders of the Empire; and The Fall, which for the first time will bring continuity in the history of the Empire Without End.
There will also be many physical extras such as maps, cards and more, exclusives only for those who support the project on Kickstarter.
Roma, the eternal city
Caput Mundi, the Capital of the World, the Eternal City: in a word, Roma. In this volume you will discover everything you wanted to know about the center of the Empire. You will discover the white and golden Rome, the glistening and martial one of the marbles and the Caesars: from the Senate with its palace conspiracies to the solemn splendor of the Temples, and much more. The Black Rome, the Suburra, the dark city populated by bandits, thieves, murderers, and supernatural threats… And finally the red Rome, that of fun and vice, from the brothels to the gladiators of the Colosseum… and then new rules, with magical disciplines, rituals, indigitations, equipment and magical objects; monsters and magical creatures of mythology, with new threats among the darkest the Custodes have ever encountered; and finally three new adventures set among the marbles, arenas, alleys and catacombs of the eternal capital of the Empire.
The volume will be written by the veteran author Francesca Garello, who already penned almost all the geographical expansions of Lex Arcana, and will contain adventures written by Laura Cardinale, Marzio Morganti and Claudio Vergati, highly appreciated authors of Lex Arcana and beyond.
Rise of Atlantis: Immerse yourself in the first official campaign of Lex Arcana
The first Lex Arcana campaign, and the first volume in a new series of modules called “Expeditions”: special adventures outside the imperial borders, and characterized by a more adventurous and action slant. In this volume the Cohors Arcana will leave for a journey beyond the Pillars of Hercules after a frantic race between Iberia, Aegyptus, Sardinia and Creta to locate the last Atlantean colony and foil a threat that weighs not only on Rome but on the entire world known…
The volume is written by Davide Mana and Mauro Longo, with the collaboration of Errico Borro and Ian Hathaway.
The Fall: The story of the Endless Empire will never be the same again
A single great sandbox adventure that establishes the beginning of the official storyline of Lex Arcana and which will shock the world. What is the perverse ancestral entity whose name is whispered at the borders of the Empire and who has crossed paths with the Custodes several times? What is it planning against the Emperor, and why? And above all… who has already been corrupted by its long claws?
And while the Custodes must discover who to trust and who not to trust, the very foundations of the Empire shake. Because ROME IS ETERNAL, BUT EMPIRES CAN FALL.
Unlike all the other volumes published so far, playable independently and at any time (such as the geographical modules), The fall marks an important change because it seals the introduction of continuity in the world of Lex Arcana, in line with the most modern serial productions. The volume in fact contains fundamental events and changes, which will have a disruptive effect on the history of the Empire and which will be continued in the near future by other volumes “in continuity”.
Players will be able to decide whether to continue playing Lex Arcana as they know it or accept the challenge and immerse themselves in the changes in the story.
