Playtime Engineering has built an interesting business selling its Blipblox musical industruments for kids. The latest will launch on crowdfunding site Kickstarter and is called Blipblox MyTracks.
“More than just a drum machine or a basic sampler – it’s a complete music production studio,” is the pitch from the company’s announcement.
The device has a built-in mic for sampling, two FX processors, five tracks to record on, and 25 playpads to trigger sounds and beats. The Kickstarter campaign goes live on 9 April with the devices expected to ship to backers in November this year.
Playtime Engineering has form with crowdfunding. Its original Blipblox synthesizer for kids raised nearly $237k on another site, Indiegogo, in 2018. Follow-up device Blipblox After Dark then raised $80.5k on the same site in 2020.
“Bootstrapping and crowdfunding our business has allowed us the freedom to design and produce our wildly creative line of instruments,” said co-founder Kate Sheets.
