Kudzu

Kudzu is coming to both Switch and Game Boy following a successful run on Kickstarter. Things just wrapped up a little while ago and over $45,000 was raised. The primary purpose of the campaign was to fund the Game Boy release, but after reaching a stretch goal, Switch is also now in the picture.

For those that haven’t heard of it previously, the game is a non-linear adventure experience that has players taking on the role of Max, the apprentice gardener, who goes on an adventure trek through fields, gardens, forests, villas, and mountains covered with Kudzu, a known globally invasive plant species.

Here’s some additional information:

Zoen, a master gardener and your mentor has wandered into the fast-growing kudzu field and mysteriously disappeared. It is up to you and your arsenal of gardening tools – such as a rake, hoe, and machete – to hack your way through the overgrowth and bring Zoen back.

Lurking in the shrubs and thickets, though, are dangerous creatures such as snakes, gigantic bugs, ghosts, and kudzu-controlled monstrosities! It’s not only the creatures that are out to get you, as the environment also comes to life with deadly traps and puzzles. You’re not alone, though: prepare to meet quirky characters who will provide you with the help and clues you need to keep you on the right track. The garden plot thickens!
