Lady of the House was announced today (8 March) and features interviews with DJ Paulette, Candi Staton, Ellen Allien and more.

A Kickstarter campaign has been launched to print and distribute a new book on the women “who have contributed, and continue to contribute, to making the house music scene.” Its announcement arrives on International Women’s Day 2021.

Lady of the House was written by Bristol-based promoter Laila McKenzie and writer Ian ‘Snowy’ Snowball. It’s been described as a “hardback coffee table style book” and features images, interviews and insight from over 120 DJs, vocalists, producers and more. Names like Candi Staton, DJ Paulette (pictured), Sam Divine, Ellen Allien, Barbara Tucker, Ultra Naté and more feature in the new book. There’s also a foreword penned by Carl Cox.

The Kickstarter campaign for Lady of the House is now live. McKenzie and Snowball aim to raise £25,000 via community participation to cover printing and distribution costs. Find out more over on Kickstarter.
