Today Rabbit & Bear Studios revealed even more new details about its upcoming JRPG Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes.
The details were provided within a Kickstarter update which focused on some of the features in upcoming stretch goals.
First of all, we hear of a DLC back story novel that will be unlocked at $4 million.
The comment was provided directly by Suikoden creator Yoshitaka Murayama.
“When I started making RPGs, my only other team member was Kawano-san. She designed the characters, and I thought up the story. We started working together due to circumstantial reasons, and at some point writing scenarios became one of my lifelong vocations.
The joy of creating something from nothing is something that all creators understand, but one of the great joys for me with scenario writing is being able to create worlds, countries, and people, and thinking about how they feel about their lives.
My job is to share all the excitement I feel inside me with other people.
I really hope I get the chance to share one of the adventures in my mind with people through a novel this time, rather than a game.”
Next is the Theatre System, which comes at $3.8 million.
“The Theatre System is an exciting addition to the Fortress Town. At this stretch goal, you’ll be able to put on plays to entertain your citizens, and there’s even the chance to attract famous troubadours and writers to your Fortress Town to create masterpieces!
With this stretch goal, we’re also unlocking the Playwright Job reward, the final Job Reward set. This tier includes a book that covers the game’s scenario, and an Eiyuden Chronicle themed playbill.”
We also get another poll letting fans vote for the 110th heroine, who will be a Kunoichi and will unlock at $3.85 million.
In the meanwhile, the Kickstarter total has now passed $3.7 million. This unlocks the previously announced card battle mode and the ranking mode.
Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes’ campaign was launched on Kickstarter almost a month ago, reaching its basic founding goal in two hours and unlocking console platforms shortly after.
As usual, the success of this campaign shouldn’t be too surprising considering that it brings back together Suikoden creators Yoshitaka Murayama and Junko Kawano, and appears to be a spiritual successor of the popular franchise.
Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes will come to PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and a possible next-gen Nintendo platform in fall 2022.
