EN World, aka Morrus' Unofficial Tabletop RPG News, has announced it is working on an “'advanced 5E' backwards compatible tabletop RPG” that will be a “crunchier, more flexible version of the 5E ruleset which you know and love.” Level Up: Advanced 5th Edition is the current working title for the project, and has been scheduled for a 2021 Kickstarter campaign.

EN World made the announcement for the Level Up: Advanced 5th Edition (A5E) action on Sunday, August 9 on their forums, and have since then published multiple follow up posts with a bunch of initial info. A5E now also has its own forum section there that includes a Broad Outlines A5E survey, as well as its own website and Kickstarter landing page. And one of the latest A5E forum posts puts out a call for “an elite team of diverse 5E designers” who are looking to join in on the development of the game.

According to Morrus’ initial Level Up forum post, A5E will be “an ‘advanced’ version of the [Dungeons & Dragons] 5E ruleset, presented as a hardcover standalone game.” The EN World team working on the new RPG already has an unfinished list of ideas and items to work on, and there will be surveys posted on the EN World forums to request public feedback to add to and refine the list. Morris says that a few of the things currently on the list include “a fully developed exploration pillar, flexible character choices at each level, a new approach to heritage, martial maneuvers, a ‘cinematic/gritty’ toggle, spell-less ranger and warlord, and followers and strongholds, and more.”
