Lady Death creator Brian Pulido has officially launched a Kickstarter campaign for Lady Death: Treacherous Infamy #1, the upcoming 48-page graphic novel that will serve as the 12th chapter in Coffin Comics' Lady Death continuity.
Pulido describes Treacherous Infamy as "the most evil Lady Death story we have ever published." Following the events of the series' previous mainline release -- Lady Death: Malevolent Decimation #1 (which itself was successfully funded on Kickstarter) -- Treacherous Infamy follows the eponymous character, who has recently broken bad (or rather, gone back to being bad). With the demonic Johnny Devlin under her control and hoodoo queen Madame Midnight by her side, Lady Death unleashes a horde of the undead on New Orleans during the city's Mardi Gras celebration. Standing against Lady Death's violent campaign are the vigilante La Muerta (who recently secured Kickstarter funding for the next chapter in her own comic series) and the devil hunter known as Muuaji.
Treacherous Infamy reunites Malevolent Decimation's creative team of writers Pulido and Mike MacLean, artist Diego Bernard, colorist Ceci de la Cruz and letterer Marshall Dillon. Pulido explains that the comic is already completed, with the money raised from the Kickstarter campaign going towards printing and distribution costs. For those who pledge, various donation tiers with physical rewards are available, including numerous different variant covers and stretch goal items. The campaign has already reached its goal and then some, with over 570 backers having already raised over $130,000 USD at the time of this writing.
