TemTem is CanCanned on PS4 and Xbox One after an announcement on KickStarter. It will instead be releasing on PS5, Xbox Series X, and surprisingly the Nintendo Switch.

Nintendo Life has reported that the Nintendo Switch release is still on after Crema's shock announcement about the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game have been dropped. According to the outlet, crowdfunders who helped TemTem come to fruition, will be given various options. They will be able to get a full refund, get the PS5/Xbox Series X versions, or they can switch to either the Nintendo Switch/PC versions of the game.

So why? Crema explained in a KickStarter update post that they want to put TemTem on a current platform, and at the time they were developing the game, there was no information on the PS5 and Xbox Series X. So, now that they have been fully revealed and will be released this year, they will need, according to the developer, "specific QA testing in that platform, specific guidelines to comply, and additional review times from platform holders."

In addition, the more platforms that the developer support, the more complicated it is to support the game with new patches and new content. Crema is very likely to build a thriving community with TemTem, and the team would need to make new content for the players as fast as it can. The PS4 and Xbox One versions would have just dragged Crema down.

It's a good move from Crema to provide full refunds who don't want an alternate version of the game, and from how the game is doing financially, it seems like the developer can support it. In its first month, TemTem sold over 500,000 copies on Steam alone and it's received a very positive rating from 20,282 reviews. That number's likely grown as updates continue to pour into the game.

Those who are dismayed by Crema's decision to not support the PS4 might be happy to learn that there's a new monster taming game on the console this month called Nexomon: ExtinctionIt's inspired by the classic 2D look of the Pokémon series and has a bright colorful world to explore. It remains to be seen if it will be up to snuff as an alternative to TemTem.
