Critical Role has released another update on their The Legend of Vox Machina Kickstarter campaign. Work has begun on this animated series, and in true Critical Role fashion, the cast intents to give back to the fans as much as possible. This includes allowing fans to help design a tavern keeper that will appear in the series.
Polls have just opened for fans to vote on the character details. This includes questions of race, class, and age among others. The polls will stay open until Monday, September 16th at 5 pm Pacific time. On that following Tuesday, September 17th at 7 pm Pacific, the official character build will happen. Hosted by cast members Travis Willingham and Sam Riegel on the Critical Role Twitch channel, the poll results will be announced. They will also continue to build the tavern keeper with continued input from the chat. This includes ironing out details such as their accent and name.
For those that can’t watch the Livestream, the VOD will be available on their YouTube channel that following Thursday, September 19th.
This isn’t the first time Critical Role has allowed fans to take part in a character build. Dungeon Master Matthew Mercer hosted a character build that resulted in a Tortle bard named Orly, who had an extended NPC appearance on the show in the role of ship navigator.
The cast has kept fans up to date on all events related to the animated series and the Kickstarter. They provided an announcement and short video in July regarding their first Story Summit and where things stood with the pre-production of the animated series. They also send regular emails over the rewards and when they will be sent out, including the design of a messenger bag and Trinket plushie – a beloved bear companion from the Vox Machina campaign.
The Nerd Stash will report on the results of the poll next week and any new animated series announcements that are revealed.
