Purple Rain. Green Tea Cheesecake. Sure, one is a famous album and the other a dessert, but if all goes as planned for a new spot going into Keg & Case West 7th Market in the Schmidt Brewery complex in St. Paul, they will be among several unique cotton-candy flavors that will be available.

Spinning Wylde, a gourmet cotton candy outfit using organic cane sugar and no artificial dyes, is launching a Kickstarter campaign to build its space at the market.

Spinning Wylde made a name for itself doing pop-ups at such places as Little Mekong Night Market and Northern Spark art festival, where owner Soktevy “Tevy” Phann-Smith has been churning out cotton-candy creations, including a signature unicorn glow cone. Some flavors are inspired by Phann-Smith’s Cambodian roots — sriracha, tamarind and coconut, to name a few.

The campaign runs through June 22. Pledges start at $10 with perks — such as custom creations and other exclusives — and increase incrementally with the bids. For more information, go to tinyurl.com/spinningwylde.
