A new Street Fighter board game has been announced by Jasco Games. Co-designed by YouTuber Joe “Angry Joe” Vargas, it features pre-painted figures as well as cards and dice to simulate fights.

Launched on Kickstarter, as of writing it, the Street Fighter: The Miniatures Game has been able to collect $664,972 USD. The initial goal was $400,000, and the campaign still has a lot of days to go. It’s clear that fans are very excited about this game. And they should be, because it looks awesome, especially the ‘collectible-quality’ miniature figures. I really like how they all have a very dynamic feel to them. You can easily place each detailed figure on a display case when you’re not playing. So, kudos to the design team!

The Street Fighter board game includes various maps with destructible 3D terrain (like crates and trees). The gameplay options include a Versus Mode, Free for All, Team Games, and more. Pledging at least $140 will give you access to the Boss Expansion which lets you play the Boss Mode (figures include M. Bison and Akuma).

You can get the core set for pledging $80. The characters in the core set are Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li (my favorite!), Zangief, Vega, and Sagat. Each character also has their own set of cards (Battle Deck) which determines how they fight during the game.

According to the official Kickstarter page, this campaign “is a celebration of over 30 years of the greatest fighting game franchise of all-time! Please enjoy this Documentary detailing the history of the game from the 25th Anniversary!”

I’m a fan of the Street Fighter franchise, and I’m really excited to see what this upcoming board game is able to offer fans! Such games are fun for everyone if done right.
