You've got to hand it to the inventor - this is certainly an original entry in the travel pillow market.

The MonPere is a hand-shaped travel pillow invented by Sylvain Bérubé, a Canadian sports therapist. And he reckons it can offer you a great in-flight snooze.

The project has raised over $112,000 Canadian dollars – nearly three times its goal - on Kickstarter.

The unique shape is made from bendy but resilient silicone with a washable cotton cover, according to the makers, and it can be bent into a number of positions, all designed to help you maintain good posture, no matter how uncomfortable your seat or spot.

Better posture means a better sleep and skipping vital sleep can lead not only to arriving at your destination feeling less than jolly but it also can increase back pain and the risk of heart issues, according to MonPere.

Its inventor has spent years travelling and living all over the world, but it wasn’t until he saw how difficult it was for his daughter to sleep on a plane that he decided to use his background to do something to help.

MonPere took four years of testing and trialling before it was ready for the market.

No matter what the weight of your head, the MonPere travel pillow claims to be able to keep you safe and secure, without your head lolling or bouncing around. It will even hold a screen for you if you want to watch a movie.

So why the hands? According to the inventor it's the result of 'of countless tests and prototypes', and this unique shape gave the best result.
