San Diego startup Cubibot LLC has launched a Kickstarter campaign for its eponymous debut 3D printer, the Cubibot. Early backers can secure the FDM 3D printer, which is described as “sleek and user-friendly,” for $199.
Most of the 3D printing elite from Europe (and elsewhere) will be found at the TCT Show in England this week, but exciting things are happening across the pond too. Case in point: California’s Cubibot has today launched a crowdfunding campaign for its Cubibot 3D printer, with backers able to receive a massive one-third discount by getting their pledge in early.
“We’re excited to make easy, affordable, and high-quality 3D printing available to consumers everywhere via the launch of our Kickstarter campaign,” said Sina Noorazar, CDO at Cubibot.
So what do we know about the Cubibot 3D printer? From its technical specifications, it seems to cover all the bases: a 127*127*127 build area, 50-micron minimum layer height, and 80 mm/s printing speed are all pretty standard. But at $199 on Kickstarter, just having these standard specs is actually really impressive.
Yet more surprising is the inclusion of a 100°C heated print bed, as well as a self-leveling build platform for ease of use and reduced imperfections. The budget 3D printer is also WiFi-enabled, offers cloud printing with a cloud slicing engine, and comes ready to use right out of the box.
Another important feature for the 3D printer, considering it will surely be treated as an entry-level machine for novice users, is safety. And the printer purportedly ticks the boxes in that regard, offering filtered ventilation with a replaceable filter, as well as a smart status indicator that lets user keep tabs on the printer at all times.
With Cubibot being new kids on the block (the company is actually a father-and-son entrepreneurial effort), we obviously can’t vouch for the performance of its 3D printer just yet, but the startup claims to have received positive responses about the FDM machine during public events.
“We’ve been developing and tweaking our Cubibot 3D printer over the past couple of years, and have been thrilled at the reaction Cubibot has been receiving at industry events, including at last week’s TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco,” Noorazar said.
The Cubibot is compatible with a range of materials, including PLA, ABS, and Nylon, and has a high-temp nozzle for printing other speciality materials. Overall, it looks surprisingly versatile given the price point—something the company is also keen to point out.
“Our Cubibot 3D printer represents a giant leap forward in affordable, plug-and-play 3D printing at a price point that anyone can afford,” said Aria Noorazar, Cubibot’s CTO. “And with easy set-up and configuration, those with no prior 3D printing experience can be creating their first 3D prints in no time at all.”
The CTO added that the Cubibot 3D printer’s “features-for-price ratio is unlike anything the industry has seen to date, and the quality of our Cubibot prints need to be seen to be believed.”
The standard Kickstarter price for the Cubibot will be $299, but early bird backers who get their pledges in soon can secure one for $199.

Your article incorrectly states a 254*254*254 build volume, but the graphic clearly states that as the overall size of the machine with the build volume being 127*127*127
