FOVE Confirm Headsets Are Shipping

Fove say that backers will be getting their pre-ordered headsets, just that it’s taking some time.

I ran a news piece the other week with news that Fove -the company behind the world’s first VR headset with built in eye-tracking- were shipping out Kickstarter backer’s headsets on the 8th January 2017.

The company stated at the start of the year that they were shipping out orders from 2016 starting on the 9th January, but there seems to have been a few people uttering, be a few utterings of people wondering where their headsets have gone.

We received a comment on our news post which read,

I’m one of the original Kickstarter Backers and I have not received a shipping notification nor a satisfactory answer as to when they will ship to backers. I’ve asked any other backer to post on Kickstarter if they receive a notification but none have.

Another comment on the FOVE blog read,

When will you be shipped out for my orders ?

They have also responded to a user on the 13th January 2017 saying,

Your shipping date depends on your order number. Basically, if you ordered your FOVE in 2016, you should be getting it in 1-2 weeks from now.

So a couple of people still seemed a bit confused with where their headsets have gone. Being a gentleman, I thought I’d find out if this was just a case of FOVE being busy, or if there had been some issues.

I dropped them a message and they have confirmed that the headsets are shipped, but due to the team being so small to handle such a large scale operation, they have got the help from a third party logistics partner, which does add some wait time.

Our headsets have shipped from our factory January 8, as we reported in our Kickstarter update. Before being labeled with addresses, they will make a brief stop in our logistics center and from there they will be sent to each individual backer. That is why it it taking longer than simple FedEx delivery times.

We hope our Backers and pre-orderers understand that a global operation of this scale can not be dealt with by our small team, so having a logistics partner deal with the shippings also slows down the process. However, every Backer should receive their headset within 1-2 weeks.

Additionally, the company stated that they are going to be receiving tracking numbers soon and will be setting up a system on their website allowing users to check the status of their delivery.

So really, it just seems like standard procedure really, with FOVE taking good measures to ensure the headsets arrive safely and with care to their backers. I would just suggest backers to keep patient and soon you’ll be able to control things by staring at them!
