PREPARATIONS for one of the LGBTI community’s coolest events are in full swing as the Kickstarter fundraising campaign for GX Australia 2017 launches.

GX Australia is the country’s most inclusive geek and gaming convention and debuted earlier to great success, with almost 1000 tickets issued.

Run by Joshua Meadows (Sydney Gaymers, Australia’s largest queer gaming group) and Liam Esler (Event Manager for Game Connect Asia Pacific, Australia’s premiere game development conference), GX Australia provides a space for gamers and geeks of all stripes, sexualities, ethnicities, genders and interests to come together and have an entertaining weekend of video and tabletop games, panels, and guests.

“The response to GX Australia 2016 was overwhelmingly positive, so bringing it back in 2017 was less of a choice and more of a necessity,” said Meadows.

“We listened carefully to the feedback we received in 2016, and can’t wait to share another incredible weekend with the best bunch of queer, diverse, and inclusive people we know.”

Special guests  will be known as Bosses of Honour and next year will be internationally renowned games critic include Katherine Cross, Kim Allom, producer at Brisbane-based developer Defiant Development, co-founder of Insert Coin and Axis of Awesome’s Jordan Raskopoulos, Eve Beauregard, cosplayer, game producer, and personality, Tim Cain, creator of Fallout and former co-founder of Troika, Lucy O’Brien, journalist and Entertainment Editor at IGN, and Rae Johnston, famous Wonder Woman cosplayer, Gizmodo journalist, and radio personality.

Some of the rewards backers can receive by pledging to GX Australia in the Kickstarter campaign, include tickets to the event, booth space, sponsorship, and most importantly a fantastic selection of local games.
