Gamelyn Games has announced an expansion set for its hit Tiny Epic Galaxies called Beyond the Black will release in late June 2017.

Tiny Epic Galaxies is Scott Almes’ popular “4X” (eXpand, eXplore, eXploit, eXterminate) microgame, released in 2015 (see “‘Tiny Epic Galaxies’ Comes to Trade”).

Beyond the Black adds additional ships for all players, while introducing new mechanics to the game, including pilot cards with special abilities, new press-your-luck style exploration mechanic, and new ways to earn points by collecting sets of exploration badges to complete secret missions.  The expansion was also designed by Almes.

Tiny Epic Galaxies:  Beyond the Black will include 20 wooden ship tokens, 27 round exploration cards, 50 game cards, 1 exploration mat, and 2 Rogue Galaxy mats.  As an expansion, a copy of the original game is needed to play Beyond the Black.  MSRP is $25.00.

Gamelyn is funding the project through a Kickstarter campaign which has attracted over $250,000 in pledged support from over 7,000 backers (an average of $35.38 per backer) as of September 14, with 16 days remaining in the campaign.  Backer fulfillment is scheduled for May 2017, with a release into trade about a month later.
