New mother needs your help to create a crowd sourced recipe book to feed children
Toronto, Canada, June 20, 2016 — In 2014 Canadian entrepreneur JF Garrard launched Dark Helix Press after a successful Kickstarter campaign to fund an East meets West vampire book, The Undead Sorceress. The campaign raised over $3,300 to help cover some of the costs of creating this multicultural fantasy book.
After the book launch, JF gave birth to a healthy baby boy who has been given the nickname of “The Kraken” in her household.
“I really need help from parents to figure out what to feed my kraken baby,” JF lamented as she faced a screaming toddler seated in his high chair. “Surely all new parents must face the same problem. If we each share one recipe and a parenting tip, we will have a super book of knowledge on how to feed these little monsters!”
Hence, the idea of crowdsourcing “Feeding The Kraken!“, a book containing children recipes and parenting advice was born. The premise is simple: each “parent savior” pledges to contribute $2 and their best recipe along with one parenting tip. At the end, each supporter will receive a copy of the e-book which contains everyone’s recipes. For $30, the “super parent savior” can send in a photo and customize the front page of the book for their family.
Recipe categories include breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and “extraordinary circumstances” which are recipes for teething or illnesses. This is a global collaboration book with hopes of drawing recipes from all over the world.
Interested in keeping this crowd sourced knowledge alive for future parents, Dark Helix Press will continue selling the book for $2-5 post campaign (dependent on number of recipes), with proceeds going to The Hospital For Sick Children, a world class children’s hospital located in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
