Infinity Chelyabinsk Meteor Pen On Kickstarter

NinthSphere

Recommended Posts

Was made aware of this one on another forum. Figured I would throw it up here if anyone was interested. Twist action ballpoint, capped rollerball, & fountain pen options in a Starwalkeresque package. In the top dome is a resin encased piece of the Chelyabinsk meteor.

it seems it got the kickstart it needed to start production , it is interesting without a doubt, but for me a piece of old amber will be more attractive

I think @Peneconomics put it best (on his Twitter stream): for US$3, you can buy a Baoer 79 pen on eBay; for another $70, you can get a bit of rock in the cap [to be fair, you may also get a slight upgrade on the nib]. If that floats your boat, go for it!

The concept and prototyping was undertaken 100% in the UK by our design team alone. No ODM arrangements were used through pen suppliers. The primary design goal and challenge was the encapsulation of the meteorite in the water clear dome and excellent writing experience at a low price point so INFINITY could be enjoyed by everyone – a truly everyday pen. We did not design the body. To keep costs down we evaluated and sourced that as a platform component in keeping with best in class design principles.

Funny, because for me it looks like chinese MB Starwalker knock-ff.

So it's just a novelty pen? An ordinary pen topped with a meteorite? Okay.

Good idea, bad and questionable design.

1) it looks like (bleep) for the price:)

2) where did they get that much of meteorite stuff? Stole from Russian museum?:)

3) how do they know how much they need meteorite before start of campaign? It's not commodity you can buy everywhere. They can end up selling 100 or 400 pens - they have that much from beginning?

4) testing meteorite with magnet... well... Piece of iron will do the trick:)

Honestly, incorporating meteorite in a pen is long-lived idea, but should be done to pen that deserves it, one of a kind or very limited edition, high price, not for a KickStarter. That would be a challenge, though:)

+1, the design does surely not look "original"

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
