Kickstarter For Torment: Tides Of Numenera Launched And Funded

by Kimberley Wallace on Mar 06, 2013 at 08:12 AM

Update: Developer inXile has reached its Kickstarter goal of $900,000 just hours after posting the project to the site. Interested gamers can still back the project, but must act quickly as many of the limited pledge tiers are running out. Those interested in tiers without limited numbers have 30 days to decide if they want to back the spiritual successor to Planescape: Torment. The project met its goal in under 8 hours, which says a lot considering Ouya took 8 hours and 22 minutes. A big victory for inXile, indeed.

ORIGINAL STORY: Are you a fan of Planscape Torment? Then rejoice! Here’s your chance to back a game that carries on the Planescape: Torment legacy.

After a successful Kickstarter campaign with Wasteland 2, inXile is back again to please fans by launching a new campaign for Torment: Tides of Numenera. The game takes cues from the acclaimed Planescape: Torment and uses Monte Cook’s new tabletop RPG setting, Numenera for its backdrop.

The Kickstarter states, “With Torment, we're striving to create a rich role-playing experience that explores similar deep, personal themes.” The game will be a single-player, isometric role-playing game, where you play as a set character. Even more thrilling is that it’s promising a rich dialogue system in the vein of Planescape: Torment.

If funded, Torment: Tides of Numenera will be available for PC (Windows), Mac, and Linux. The game will also be DRM-free.
