Before I start, I want to point out that I’m not a fan of brawler games. However, Guardians of the Forest looks like a cute but bloody take on the genre. With half of the time on the clock already passed, this one’s not looking too good but there’s still roughly two weeks left for them to get funded.

Basically, in Guardians of the Forest you’re playing as a rabbit that’s out to beat the crap out of other rabbits. Well, that’s not entirely true. They have announced playable raccoons too. So, if you’re not a fan of lagomorphs you can also play as the masked bandits of the animal kingdom.

Guardians of the Forest

Guardians of the Forest boasts an impressive amount of customization and battlegrounds. You can not only change the appearance of your avatar but during play you can pick up weapons and armor to help keep you alive longer and to change how you look while taking on your opponents. There are twelve item types that can be picked up and used.

Guardians of the Forest

The main selling point is the single player and local multiplayer modes with some co-op planned for some of the 15 game modes and over 40 planned arenas. You’ll be able to choose from “classic” mode, deathmatch, king of the hill, and other familiar play styles throughout Guardians of the Forest.

“But what about the children?!”, you might be wondering. Well, Ratalaika’s got that covered. You can turn off the blood and gore at any time you want and it’ll be safe for all ages. So you can play this game as a family if you want. And they have almost all platforms covered either in the base goal or as a stretch goal.

With 16 days left Guardians of the Forest still has a ways to go to reach their $3,500 goal. There’s a demo to try out first if you’re unsure you want to back.
