Royle Family star Ricky Tomlinson has reportedly signed up for a sequel to cult film Mike Bassett.
The Liverpool actor told a national newspaper he was also desperate to get Liverpool-born footballers Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher onboard for Mike Bassett: Interim Manager.
He also said he’d welcome England manager Roy Hodgson on screen - if he was prepared to be Mike’s understudy.
The film crew are using a Kickstarter campaign to raise the £125,000 needed to start filming the sequel to the movie - which was released 13 years ago.
Earlier this week former Brookside actor Ricky was awarded the Freedom of the City at Liverpool Town Hall.
He told the Liverpool Echo: “You keep your Oscars and your BAFTAs - those are selected by luvvies, this is from the people of Liverpool, and I love them.
“This has to be the greatest accolade of my career by a mile.”
