dreamfall1Dreamfall Chapters: The Longest Journey has a really cool concept, and the numbers tell me that I wasn’t the only person thinking that when the game was seeking funding. Dreamfall Chapters just flattened its initial goal of $850,000 and ended up raising almost twice that, and, much to the happy thoughts of backers everywhere, Book One of the five planned instalments is about to hit beta.

Book one will contain the first two chapters out of the overarching story’s full thirteen, but it will also include what the developers are calling an “interlude”. These segments will focus on an entirely different character, and are a well-kept secret so far to backers and non-backers alike, so it’ll be interesting to see all this revealed through actual experience. The only way you can find out about these interludes is to play the beta, so if you’ve been keeping your eye on this one, keep the other eye on your inbox so you can get to play that beta. Like a chameleon. Or Steve Buschemi.

dreamfall2If you haven’t been keeping either of your independently nimble eyes on this campaign… Well, it raised $1,538,425, so it might just pique your interests. It’s a 3D adventure game divided into sitting-long chapters, like TV episodes, and the overarching story will accept no compromise, leading the game to be extended from three to five books total. The team over at Red Thread is dedicated, and this is a personal project for many involved. You can check out more info on the game over on Kickstarter, but since Dreamfall Chapters has already been Greelit on Steam, all that’s left to do now is wait.
