Fans of classic adventure game Shadowgate, your day has come. Developer Zojoi has announced that the remake's closed beta is now available for download, and has released a new storyline trailer to celebrate.
Shadowgate First Gameplay Trailer Promises 4K Resolution
For those (sadly) uninitiated, Shadowgate is a point-and-click adventure game that was released almost 30 years ago for the Macintosh as part of its MacVenture series. It's perhaps best known for its NES port, however, which gave the dark game an incredible amount of popularity that continues to this day. A few sequels and ports have popped up over the years but it wasn't until the Kickstarter project that the original creators were able to completely revamp their classic game, adding new features and completeing redoing the graphics and soundtrack.
“Launching the closed Beta of Shadowgate is an exciting step for us as we give gamers an early taste of the bold adventure that awaits,” said Karl Roelofs, Design Director at Zojoi. “The new graphics and eerie music create an atmosphere that transports gamers from their everyday lives into this harrowing dark adventure that’s both classic and completely new.
